EDITOR’S NOTE: “Excitingly, 21 people from Phoenix attended this year’s GLC! All of us were deeply impacted and moved by the preaching, sharing, and also serving of the children during this conference’s powerful “Day of MERCY.” There were tears shed, hearts cut, and decisions made. What follows are various attendees’ testimonies and responses from this amazing experience. Let us pray that more and more of us here in the movement can make the decision to attend the GLC yearly—as we all need to aspire to be like Jesus, and being like Jesus means becoming a leader. The LORD said “The harvest is plentiful, the workers are few…” (Matthew 9:37). Let’s all be determined to be those workers harvesting in the fields of the southwest—and to God will be all the glory!” – JMC

“Out of the past four GLC’s I have visited in my life, this years Global Leadership Conference by far was the most impactful for my heart. I learned that my life is nothing and the only truth that really matters is the cross. I learned the importance of imitation and how it unifies the whole church. Lastly I learned how as disciples we should be content with serving in any position in the church—regardless if we are preparing the coffee, ushering, or preaching the Word. Now my conviction is to be excellent in anything I do.” – King Burke

“‘Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.’ (Luke 10:23-24) Every year, without fail, the one thing I love the most about being at the conference is seeing the family of God from all around the world. I make new friends, like Jaya from Chennai, India, who could relate to me in leading her house church with her husband. We share many similarities and personal weaknesses and we vowed to pray for one another. We also ate breakfast with old friends, like RD and April Baker of Dubai, UEA, who told us, with tears, the story of receiving April back from the dead when her heart stopped beating for 4 1/2 minutes. Truly the kingdom of God is made up of incredible like-minded people, seeing and hearing one another, a privilege longed for, yet unseen, even by ‘prophets and kings!’” – Sandy Lunde
“What hit me from the GLC was how serving and humble the Filipino people are as a nation. No mater where I went the people called me “Ma’am” and wanted mw to feel welcome in their country. Especially walking into the first meeting of the conference and I was hugged by a disciple every 10 feet because the people their wanted me to feel so special.” – Brittany Bulerin
“I now have a newfound respect for missionaries as well as disciples in third world countries. Going to the GLC strengthened my conviction to give generously to missions every time, and with a grateful heart, because I was face to face to those we are giving to! A brother at the conference said, “your good intentions won’t put food on the table for missionaries.” Seeing the non-disciple students out there was also life changing, as they welcomed us to the school as if we were celebrities. My heart has been softened as the Manila disciples gave me their heart, wanting nothing in return.” – Charles Day

“I was inspired by the many powerful lessons along with the great times of fellowship with disciples! Some disciples I knew from my past and some I made new friendships with by fun and faithful times at the GLC. Yet, the one thing that really impacted me the most was The War Room. I went on Sunday morning before church, to pray for a few visitors that we had hoped would come, along with many other concerns that weighed heavy on my heart. Going into this room being surrounded by all of these prayers posted on sticky notes, and written by our dear brothers and sisters from around the world, made me realize two things: First, many of these prayers sounded very similar to my own prayers…prayers for family members, our children, our teens, our leaders, souls who have left God, and many more requests. Secondly, while praying on my knees, I listened to other people pray on their knees. When these brothers cried out to God, it made me realize how much more I personally need to pray more and continue to pray even more, being faithful that God is listening to our prayers—especially when we really believe what we are praying for! “We can’t give up saving souls, our walk with God and praying for unity… and if your a leader you will become bitter if being a leader is just an interest and not a passion to see souls won. I sometimes feel like once I do this thing then I can take a breather or once I can study with this person then I can take a break. Sadly this is at times my heart and mentality. Although I do want to see lives changed and souls saved—I do want a “break.” However, I was reminded how Satan will not take a break, he will continue to tear apart, seek to destroy me the family of believers , my marriage, my children, etc. When I take a “break” he has an open arena in which he can reek havoc. Instead I want to remember the scripture below:
“Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? [8] Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ” – Luke 17:7-10
[Submitting to] this scripture is the only way to survive spiritually if we think we deserve something. Why do I want a break-maybe cause I feel entitled? I didn’t do nothing but sin and Jesus paid the price – all the more it should make me grateful and want to do more and ask to do more. I feel more encouraged to do more. No taking breaks, more like “thank you God” for letting me be a disciple and calling me to be part of this incredible awesome family! I’m grateful I got to spend time with a young zealous couple who opened wide their hearts to us ! We were able to adopt them while in Manila! More so that we are now receiving mom and dad and sister messages as they loved up on Cassie like a sister!” – Laura Barrett
“‘Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing.’ – Psalm 68:4-6
Singing in the kingdom of God, all around the world and in Manila, Philippines. Disciples drove on jeepnies known for their crowded seating, decorations and symbols of Philippine culture and art. These jeepnies are now known for carrying over 700 singing disciples through the streets of Manila on the way to serve the lonely and the fatherless. Upon arrival, we were greeted with hugs, flags from all over the world and beautiful hand made necklaces which warmed our hearts. Most endearing to me was a six-year old boy named Jacob, his shy demeanor, and yet after some teasing, laughter and encouraging Jollibee chicken, we became best of friends. This was the best day of my life, singing to God, and serving his children on a day of mercy” – Scott Lunde
This year’s GLC was truly special. Going into the day of Mercy Event in Makati city, I, with many others went in with the mindset that we’re here to serve the children and were fired up to do so! However, we weren’t there to just serve the orphans, we were there to learn from them. They had every reason to be sad about their position in life, yet had a zeal and an appreciation for life that humbled me. They encouraged us! I learned that we have no excuses for loving the lost, and I need to help others see how happy you can be with God if you only seek him with all of your heart.” – Chris Shultz

Many of the lessons from the GLC are available at caicc.net. The Holy Spirit worked very powerfully at this GLC in sending out the Cebu church (led by John and Anna Malnegro), the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale church (led by Matt and Helen Sullivan), the Guam church (led by Bryson and Jaz Okuno), and the 12th and final “Phase 1” Crown of Thorns Project church Planting-Hong Kong! We know from the scriptures that disciples sent out are “sent on their way by the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:4). Let us keep in step with the Spirit, as we send out more and more brothers and sisters to train, raise-up, and plant new churches all over the world! To God be the Glory-JMC
