Cathi with her Husband LuJack – They serve together to oversee the East Region of the City of Angels International Christian Church as Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader!

Read Zephaniah 2:1-3:17 “Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands, Seek righteousness, seek humility; The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Worldliness Quieted By God’s Love

I love the way Zephaniah is written: So direct, yet so gentle; offering guidance and hope too! During the holiday season, this is exactly the kind of discipling I need personally. While the world is calling out to me, “Come here! Spend your time, your money, your efforts over here!” The temptation is sometimes very strong to give into my flesh and seek after worldly possessions and worldly fun. But the truth is that the world’s “fun” and “treasures” are really temporary! They never last!!! And the worst part is worldly “fun” always leaves regrets!!! I hope and pray you will seek to have godly fun this holiday-which will leave you with lots of good memories and no regrets!

Sadness Quieted By God’s Love

This season is also a time when many are tempted with terrible sadness. Some are going through the holidays for the first time without a special loved one whom they’ve lost this year. Our family is enduring the pain of the loss of our “Santa Nino”- LuJack’s godfather who always plays Santa at midnight on Christmas eve. Others are struggling with feeling like they are not special to anyone-including God! They feel alone and vulnerable and afraid. And still others are struggling just to have food on the table! You can help some of these folks in the kingdom and in the neighborhood by reminding them what Zephaniah says which is that God is “mighty to save”!

Prayer: God, please “quiet us” with your peace and hope. Please help us to take time to pray together with other disciples, even if it must be over the phone! Please help us to sing together and offer hope to someone in our neighborhood by extending an invitation to come to church on Christmas eve. Help us to finish 2016 strong in the Lord! And help us to kick off 2017, “The Year of the Impossible”, by taking our requests to you FIRST, and by stepping out in faith! Impossible: that my son, L.T. becomes a Christian in 2017!!! In Jesus’ name I pray…AMEN!!!
