I love the holidays! I enjoy the Christmas lights, the food, and all the Christmas events with our spiritual family and my physical family. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping. There are so many people and great opportunities to share our faith since this is a time of year people are thinking of others and less of themselves. Although this is a wonderful time of the year we can shorten – or even miss – the most important time of our day. This scripture has been my theme scripture for the month of December.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” – Mark 1:35
This can be difficult after late nights of preparing meals, baking, spending time with family and friends or even late nights shopping. Yet, if we remember the reason for the season our relationship with Jesus is the greatest gift of all. Let’s not forget why we celebrate Christmas!
Prayer focus: Dear Father thank you for the greatest gift of all your son who was born to give us a new life. So grateful to be able to celebrate the holiday without the sin from my past. Help me to stay focused on what’s important this holiday season and I ask that I can go into 2017 filled with inspiration and belief of the impossible.
