Crown of Thorns

Five Core Convictions

Since 2006

The Phoenix International Christian Church has a humble beginning that can be traced back to the Sold-Out Discipling Movement in the early 2000s. The Sold-Out Movement was an effort to restore first-century Christianity and was started by a small group of Christians in Portland, Oregon. The movement spread quickly to different cities in the United States, and soon, a small group of committed disciples began meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. The group was led by a couple of evangelists who were passionate about sharing the gospel and making disciples.

As the group grew in size, it became clear that there was a need for more formal leadership and organization. In 2006, the Phoenix International Christian Church was officially established, with a few members meeting in a home. The church grew rapidly, and soon, it became clear that a larger location was needed. After much prayer and hard work, the church was able to rent a building in Phoenix, where it still meets today. From these humble beginnings, the Phoenix International Christian Church has grown into a vibrant community of believers, dedicated to serving God and making disciples of all nations.

“Moved By The Spirit” Guest Editorial by Brice Williams

After 24 hours of flights and layovers I arrived well-rested, yet exhausted. After leaving the airport, I was immediately blindsided by the visuals. While National Geographic or miscellaneous charity organizations have captured seemingly inhumane and frankly dangerous living conditions, standing in the midst of it is radically different than observing a piece on social media. What the photos fail to document are the sounds and smells that amplify the seemingly helpless state of the region. The structurally dilapidated buildings were nothing short of paranoia inducing. The garbage in the streets, the wandering children, the water sources’ brown tint, and incessant noise was initially overwhelming.

Bringing the Gospel to the Valley

As followers of Christ, evangelization is a vital part of our mission to share the good news of the Gospel with those around us. Here in the Phoenix area, there are many opportunities for us to reach out and make a difference in people’s lives.

One way we strive to evangelize is by living out our faith in our daily lives. Our actions and attitudes can speak volumes about the love and grace of Christ, and we seek to reflect that love to those we encounter, whether it be in our workplaces, schools, or neighborhoods. We also encourage our members to invite friends, family, and coworkers to join us for worship and fellowship, creating opportunities to share our faith in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment.

Another way we evangelize is through community outreach and service. We believe that serving those in need is an important way to show the love of Christ to others. Our church regularly partners with local organizations to provide assistance to those experiencing homelessness, hunger, and other challenges. We also participate in various community events, such as festivals and fairs, to connect with people and share our faith in a fun and engaging way.

We are committed to being a church that actively seeks to reach out to those around us with the love and grace of Christ. We invite you to join us in this mission, whether you are already a member of our church or simply seeking to learn more about the Christian faith. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community and beyond.
