What do you desire this Holiday Season? Presents? Vacation? New job? Relationship?  This is the time when commercialism capitalizes on the season of giving! Commercials are about gifts, giving, family meals, sales, and things we cannot live without! Non-profits are requesting assistance in giving to their cause, donating to help them, and getting a tax deduction, etc.. Few are focused on the true gift.

Desire Christ – The True Gift

As disciples we need to focus on the CHRISTmas season and the real reason we celebrate Christmas! It’s a time to celebrate Jesus Christ’s birth into this world so he could be sacrificed for YOUR sins! What is your focus?

“Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” – Psalm 37:1-6

Delight In Christ – The True Gift

What are you going to delight in his season? What is going to be your focus at the end of the year and taking you into the beginning of the New Year? Use this time to delight in the opportunities God is giving you. If you have the time off, spend more time with God, go on prayer walks, have deep talks with your family (church and physical family), and make memories. Have GOD be your focus during this time. He is the true gift!

When you think of something that’s delightful what do you think of? Hot chocolate in front of a fireplace with your family? Curling up on the couch with uninterrupted reading time? Having a good laugh with your friends? Now think about how to delight yourself in the Lord? Do a character study of someone in the Bible or on your character. Remember that the true gift is not what you get, it’s your relationship with God! Make it a strong holiday and don’t let Satan distract you from the true gift!

Prayer focus: Pray out of gratitude for your salvation. Pray to make your daddy happy and to be righteous and not religious so you can make an impact around others. Ask God for opportunities to not only invite someone to church but to share your faith with them. Pray to be focused on meeting God’s desires and His true gift!
