2015 GLC – The Savior of the World!

“We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”  John 4:42

“The Savior of the World” – 2015 Global Leadership Conference!

The global leadership conference this year was absolutely inspiring!  Amy and I were so grateful to see so much of the Phoenix church participate not just in the inspiring Sunday service, but the entire week-end of preaching, teaching, and powerful fellowship!  Sixty-eight from Phoenix attended the entire GLC this year!  Thursday began with the church builder’s workshop, of which the Phoenix staff and several house church leaders attended.  Argo Arneson addressed all with faith, conviction, and deliberate intent during his intense lesson “Ready for Harvest!”  He pointed out that Jesus was about multiplication, not just “addition!”  Argo reminded us that “in fact, it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples” (John 4:2) and so we, like Jesus, need to help the disciples in our bible talks baptize!  Argo also brought up how many ministers may imitate how or what they see Kip doing in the ministry, yet they must imitate his heart!  Argo reminded us that everywhere Kip has gone there has been multiplication, and not just addition.  The most resonating example was when forty-two disciples came down from Portland to LA and joined the thirteen in the LA “remnant group” and divided into the initial eight bible talks.  In the first year of the LA planting those eight bible talks baptized one-hundred and four people!  To have the heart of Jesus is ensure that the disciples in our bible talks all baptize. By ensuring the disciples in each bible talk baptize – we will build each bible talk up so that it doubles and then splits, raising up new leaders in the process!

The Growth & Impact of the Global Internet Ministry

I was very encouraged to see all the Phoenix disciples who opted to invest in the Internet Ministry by attending the 2015 Cybercon event!  As a cyberevangelist in our movement, it gives me great joy to see disciples striving to understand and contribute to this powerful and far-reaching ministry.  On any given day there are over three billion people “surfing” the web!  The Internet has become a ubiquitous and “essential” part of the day to day lives of billions of people.  The 1.2 billion facebook users and 304 million twitter users crystallize this pervasiveness of the Internet in our day-to-day lives.  The “Invisible Continent” of the Internet is filled with darkness.  Cyberspace is an apt name for “the Internet” because is very cold and very dark, just like space.  Each movement website site is like a star, something offering warmth, hope, and substance for the souls wandering the purgatory of the web.

We are so grateful that God moved Regina Daniel’s (center) heart and life to become our sister in Christ!

Thanks to Sydney Lankford for making sure our social media (fb) websites are pristine!  Thanks also to Byford Damon for getting our sermons and lessons recorded, uploaded and encoded!  Thanks also to Anthony Patterson (among others!) for diligently getting event and baptism photos for us.  We’re also grateful for the assistance Brice Williams provided for AV and for usd21.org email support.  And of course, a big shout out to Joseph Ewing for updating our slideshow and making sure our phxicc.org site is solid!  We have an awesome team of volunteers and they all work together to make sure that we have amazing content on our social pages and church sites and they do it for their King and those sheep wandering about the internet looking for something with faith, hope & love!

What an amazing gift for our Heavenly Father on “Father’s Day!” To see three hearts make Jesus Lord! Darryl Mangum, Delisa Bulerin, and Cisco Hernandez!

Phoenix Disciples – Preaching the Word at the 2015 GLC!

It was so inspiring to see our very own Josiah and Kristin Smith preaching at the AMS Conference!  I really appreciated Kristin’s example of teaching the AMS women there about how AMS is a fountain of leadership.  She cleverly used the example of the fountain at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.  Kristin explained how this fountain was created to attract people to Las Vegas, and how it is this amazing orchestration of water, light and sound that is astonishing to behold.  And how in Christ, the women (and all disciples) in the AMS were made by God to attract people to his Kingdom – “You are the light of the world.  A City on a hill cannot be hidden!” (Matthew 5:14-15) I was so proud of her to hear how she came to understand God’s dream is much bigger than her dream to use her talents for her career and her own dreams.  Kristin now has the conviction that “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in all its forms.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

Josiah’s heartfelt admonishment was that those in the AMS (really, any of us!) need to be very diligent in their art, and understand that diligence will provide opportunities to put them in front of Kings!  Josiah skillfully broke down 1 Sam 16:14-23 and showed how David, because he was “skilled” and “played well” (1 Sam 16:17) he was brought before King Saul and entered his service as a musician.  “Do you see a man skilled in his work?  He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.” (Proverbs 22:29)  Indeed, and all of us, not just those in AMS, need to remember that God puts us in front of “kings” so that we can share our faith with them!

The International College of Christian Ministry (ICCM) – Phoenicians Graduating & Attending!

What a joy it was to see a couple of Phoenicians graduate from the ICCM!  Amy and I were so grateful to see Janelle Jones graduate from the ICCM with a Bachelor’s in Ministry!  It is all a part of the Holy Spirit’s plan to grow both of the Jones and prepare them to bring God’s law to the Island(s) of Guam – for “In his law, the Islands put their hope!” Our dearly loved and sincerely missed Mark and Keri Garrido also celebrated their graduation from the ICCM with their BA in Ministry!  I am so encouraged by the Phoenix church and the amazing legacy that the Holy Spirit is building through it!

Our sisters in the AMS ministry are inspired that God’s Holy Spirit brought Mandy Twum-Ampofo from Ghana all the way to the USA—and then into God’s Kingdom!

Speaking of the ICCM, it brings me great joy to announce that our brother Rico Jones is now in the ICCM program as an unpaid intern in the City of Angels Church as well!  It is a bittersweet inspiration to see the Smiths departing in September this year (2015).  They have been pillars in our ministry and have grown into such genuine and powerful servants in the church – bearing much fruit to God’s glory “showing themselves to be [Jesus’] disciples.” (John 15:8)  God has already blessed Kristin in LA with a “perfect” job for a ministry-leader working only one day a week, so the rest of the week can be centered on God’s work and building the family.  God has also revealed his plan for our brother Josiah, he has been asked to serve as a part time Intern in the LA church and has been granted a scholarship for the ICCM BA program!

“The Savior of the World” has added to his kingdom family in Phoenix!

The past two months have been amazing, as God has blessed us with all kinds of brand new brothers and sisters!  This past “New Member’s Orientation” was awesome!  The hospitality and heart to serve from our Shepherds Chris and Darby Schultz was so refreshing!  So many shared about how they became a disciple and what they are grateful to God for.  All of us were moved as we heard each other’s hearts and our gratitude!  We are so grateful to welcome Beorn & Nadari Hockenhull who placed membership from the City of Angels AMS ministry!  They bring with them their two beautiful daughters Myumi (who is a teen disciple!) and Nalani.  We are also excited to welcome Maurice Smith who is placing membership from the Hilo Hawaii church.  Maurice will be attending Grand Canyon University and studying Mechanical Engineering as well as trying out for their division 1 basketball team!  The LORD moved powerfully in the baptisms of Darryl Mangum (Central), Cisco Hernandez (Campus) and Delisa Bulerin (AMS) in January, as all three of them were baptized into the Body of Christ January 21st—Father’s day!  It is always amazing to see disciples’ family members become a part of the Kingdom of God – and we are so grateful to God that Brittany Bulerin’s sister is now a sister to all of us through Christ!  Then God blessed us with another baptism in the Central ministry with Regina Daniel, a wonderful single mother who has battle through much and overcome for her God and faith.  Then our heavenly father blessed us with the baptism of Richard Beach, a talented & hard-working young man that the campus reached out to.  Then, just before the GLC, Mandy Twum-Ampofo made Jesus LORD and was baptized July 7th.  Right after the brothers of the campus ministry returned from the GLC, God blessed their zeal with the baptism of Damaya Pearson!

Casey Clegg, Marvell Holder, and King Burke all prepare to pray with Richard Beach, just before he is baptized into Christ!

Last, but certainly not least, we are excited to announce that Alexis Hall will be moving to be a part of the Phoenix church family mid-September and will join her boyfriend Marvell Holder in the campus ministry!  Amazingly, God has also blessed Marvell and Alexis both with ICCM scholarships!  God is moving in the Phoenix church, let’s keep praying, preaching and pursuing the heart of our God – lest we forget that our Lord Jesus Christ is in fact, “…the Savior of the World!

We are family – ‘til the end!
