Greetings from the Valley of the Son! “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21

The Phoenix AMS Ministry collaborated with 25 other disciples and put on an astounding Fashion With A Passion Show this year which included over 40 models (many of them professionals), six different local fashion lines, a dozen local businesses as vendors, 10 spon-sors, around 400 in attendance, an awesome local band (The Hip-notix), and raised over $4,500! The fashion show was covered by professional local photographers, Fox-10 News, as well as Arizona Foothills Magazine – “Congrats on a well-organized and successful event!” – Stephen Yap, AZ Foothills Magazine!

A truly special moment during the evening was when Rico Jones surprisingly asked Janelle Rushen to be his wife – and she said, “YES!”

Josiah & Kristin Smith spearheaded this amazing evening, and it was inspiring to see what God was able to do with the combined dedication, faith and zeal of the disciples involved!

We also celebrated God adding to our number this past week a dear sister and her daughter as they placed membership from the Port-land Church Family – Jamie and Mialynn Wessels!

God also made His church grow with a new single brother, Casey Clegg! He was met “randomly” as he approached us while we were tagging for Special Missions and asked about why we were doing the fundraiser. The reason he stopped initially was because his check engine light just “went on” as he drove by and he parked near us to check it out. Of course, after he set up to study the Bible that morning and drove off… the light “mysteriously” went off!
We are so grateful to see how our God is moving and bringing souls into His Kingdom, blessing our efforts to plant and to water! “To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus” in this and all generations! Amen!

A Season For MERCY

As we enter the holiday season, we have an amazing opportunity to show the world who we are and what we believe. In James 1:27, the Bible reads “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

This is our theme scripture for MERCYworldwide here in Phoenix. Darby and I have the privilege to serve as MERCYworldwide Directors and as we come to the most active part of the year for MERCY, we’d love for the Assistant MERCY Coordinators to say a few words about what MERCY means to them as well as some details for the upcoming events.

A few words from Doug and Michelle Hunt (Assistant Mercy Coordinators):

Michelle and I are honored to serve as Assistant MERCYworldwide Coordinators to spearhead this year’s Annual Food Drive for Sunshine Acres Children’s Home. Growing up in a large family, my most precious memories are of our holiday dinners together in the home my parents made for us. I am reminded often of the innocence of children, and am particularly fond of Matthew 10:13-16 (specifically verse 14) wherein Jesus says, …’ “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.’

Thank you, one and all, for your participation in our Thanksgiving Food Drive. You exemplify hospitality and generosity while your hearts are to “serve wholeheartedly as if you were serving the Lord, not men” (Ephesians 6:7)

On Sunday November 23rd, we will be collecting food for our annual food drive. Each Bible Talk is responsible for bringing a meat (turkey or ham), several sides (fresh vegetables, canned goods, etc.), and dessert to donate for the gathering of families at the Sunshine Acres Children’s Orphanage. Please do not bring anything that is prepared or cooked. The kitchen staff at the home will prepare the meals. You may bring pre-made pies so they can store them. Please contact your Bible Talk Leader for further details if you have any questions.

On December 7th, we will be conducting our annual Toy Drive. Like last year, there will be sign up sheets to “foster” a child. Each person will be asked to sign up for a child, purchase a $10.00 gift card (various preferences will be available) and PLEASE HAND MAKE a Christmas card for the child. Please turn them in on the 7th so we can prepare the final list. There are over 90 children currently at the home, so you may “foster” several children as a family if you would like. On December 13th we will be handing out and decorating cookies with the orphans. We will all meet as a church from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. to spend time with them. Please bring your children as this will be an amazing time to give our hearts as a church and as MERCY Ambassadors. We are all so proud of the amazing hearts here in Phoenix! Friends are always welcome to join in this festive event.

If you have any questions, please contact Chris, Darby, Doug or Michelle.
Happy Holidays!
